This is a sweet book with cute illustrations and an important lesson. I was really touched by Evan’s gesture of kindness, and enjoyed the story from start to finish. The illustrations align well with the story and help bring it to life. This is a fairly short picture book, and I’d recommend it for upper elementary and lower middle grade. There is a guide in the back, so you can dive deeper into the book with kids after reading it. The story emphasizes both how Evan works hard to save for his goal and what he decides to do when a friend needs his help. Being based on a true story only makes it even more heart-warming to read.
